Making Wild Medicine from this Ancient Land
As the wheel of the year turns I feel a deep gratitude as each plant comes and goes. As buds grow, then leaves, fresh and bright, and flowers emerge, bright and delicate before they fade and fall to the earth once more.
Each plant on this great wheel identifies where we are in the turning. I look out now in late Spring to the blossoming of the ancient Rowan and Elder trees. Each at the height of their greatest expressions, in full bloom, calling to the pollinators, for them to fulfil their cycle with berries in the Autumn time.
In following the cycle of the earth through all it’s seasons and in making wild medicine we learn where each medicine plant is on the land surrounding us. Where do the wild Primroses bloom? Where can I find the Wild wood anemones is the woodland? What is the time of year that the Robin run the hedge is in full bloom?
You begin to learn the ancient ways, the hidden paths, following the fox path into the deepest glades of the forests. You learn where the bluebells are at their happiest, how the Vetch likes to meander through the hawthorn hedgerow. You see the snuffling hoaking of Badger seeking worms and juicy insect treats in the grasses.
Yes, the learning is of the herbs, trees and flowers, but it is so much more as well. It is feeling the tug to travel a new way and accept the invitation of a majestic Oak tree to rest awhile on his sturdy trunk.
This is an external and internal journey. An exploration and a reconnection. A deep knowing and a bright new wonder.
It is this that goes into your wild medicines. The hidden path and the deepest reverence. The mystery, intuition and the deep wisdom.
When I make medicine for you this is what is flowing through me. Nature offering you the most profound support, inspiration and love.
In this time of the turning I am making flower essences, capturing the highest expression of each plant. Handmaking essences that vibrate with each flower’s innate and unique healing signature. Offering us emotional healing, spiritual upliftment and reconnection to the soul of nature where we belong.
Step out into nature, follow your own tug of intuition. Lay against the truck of the ancient beings that we call trees. Feel the support, feel the love.
